The album of the month is Loidis’ One Day. Unless it’s Lia Kohl’s Normal Sounds. If you like jazz, it’s Ellen Reid’s Big Majestic. Unless it’s Nick Cave’s Wild God, which I think would appeal to people who like jazz, but is itself not jazz. Nala Sinephro put out a fantastic jazz song, but her album is not yet out. So we can take that out of consideration.
But aren’t we here to talk songs? Sinephro’s “Continuum 1” is expectedly excellent, absent the album, which releases on Friday. Julie’s “Very Little Effort” is the best song on their album, which releases next Friday and which I have been lucky enough to hear. Mija Milovic released an album with a song “TIME-KEEPER” that is a rework of her song “TIME.” I like that self-referential play, an Easter egg for those who are suffer from paying attention. To what? To Danish indie-adjacent experimental music. A disease from which I am a majorly afflicted.
Speaking of illness, you know what else is sick? All the rest of this music that came out in August.
